I.AM.SO.STRESSED!
Hello by the way! How are you? I’m stuck in the middle of a revision nightmare at the moment. I can’t believe these exams have come round so quickly and despite my revision timetable (which to be honest I only half heartedly stuck to) I don’t feel prepared. I’m worried I’ll open the question papers and not even understand the questions. What if the work I’ve done doesn’t even come up? I am so worried!!!
Spud doesn’t seem stressed at all, he is so laid back. He keeps telling me to chill out. He hasn’t done any work and says he doesn’t intend to either as exams are a waste of time. I don’t know what he is going to do after the exams are over. I know I messed about and didn’t attend school much over the years but I really want to get into college and continue my education now.
I spoke to my Mum about how I was feeling. She told me to take some time out between revision sessions, so after I’ve done an hour I’ll go for a walk, even if it’s only round the block to clear my head. Sometimes I stick my i-pod on and dance round my bedroom (don’t tell anyone about that!) or go for a game of football in the park. Exercise is a really good way of de-stressing but if that’s not your favourite thing have a nice bubble bath, enjoy a bar of chocolate or go shopping for half an hour! I make sure I finish revising by 8pm each evening and make time to watch some TV before bed. This website is really good for last minutes revision, hits and tips – take a look!
For you all you lucky people fortunate enough not to be stuck revising over half term there are some great activities planned in Denbighshire’s leisure centres again! You can find out more by phoning your local leisure centre – just don’t forget to ask permission to use the phone.
You don’t even have to spend money to enjoy yourself this half term. We are lucky enough to be surrounded by beautiful countryside in Denbighshire and there are lots of places to take a walk which costs you nothing and keeps you fit! As long as my revision is on track Dennis (that’s my step-dad) said he might take me to Loggerheads for a walk next week. You can download a couple of trails for Loggerheads from this link there are also some short walks in Prestatyn, Ruthin, Llangollen & Corwen to have a look at too!
I’m going to get back to the books now. Don’t forget my top tips for effective revision:
• Find a quiet place to study where you can’t be distracted – this means away from the TV and Playstation!
• Don’t study for more than 40 minutes at a time and
• Take regular breaks
Even if you haven’t started your revision yet, don’t panic – it’s never too late. When you are in the exam hall just do your best, read the questions carefully and take your time answering. I wish you all the luck in the World!
See you next month (when it will all be over!)
