Ceri's Blog - June
HiyaPhew! I’m so glad those exams are over with. I had my last one on Thursday. Feels so great to be FREE!!!! I hope you got on okay with your exams. Mum’s on my case now though to get a job or some work experience to keep myself busy for the summer. I don’t understand why she can’t get off my back. She nagged me to revise and now she is nagging me to do something with my free time. I keep telling her to give me a break, I’ve been in school for 12 years it’s about time I had some ‘me’ time.
Now that summer is almost here I really want to get a tan. I’ve been going on the sunbeds a couple of times a week just to get a bit of colour. Last time I went I stayed on for a little too long and burned my skin quite badly. When Mum saw me she went mad and went on and on about the dangers of sunbeds. I didn’t think they could be that bad and it has got to be better than tanning in the sun, right? WRONG! Mum picked up these leaflets which tell you all about the dangers: One for Girls and One for Boys
Apparently using a sunbed once a month or more can increase your risk of skin cancer by more than half… I think I’ll be sticking to a bottle of fake tan from now on.
It’s also really important to be sun smart with all this nice weather we’ve been having. You should cover up or use sunscreen with at least a factor 15 if you are out and about in the sun.
Remember the Sun Smart Code:
S - Spend time in the shade between 11am - 3pm
M - Make sure you never burn
A - And cover up
R - Remember to take extra care with children
T - Then use factor 15+ sunscreen
…these websites also give really good advice about staying safe in the sun Cancer Research UK and Health Challenge Denbighshire
I’m off to Nana’s now. She wants to start writing her own blog so I said I’d go and help her. Will keep you posted on that.
See you next time and stay safe in the sunshine!
